Queensland fastest growing state
Recent population figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) indicate that Queensland is Australia’s fastest growing state. About 1000 people are moving from New South Wales to Queensland every week to fill jobs and live more cheaply, latest figures show.
As the cost of living in Sydney becomes less affordable Queensland continues to become a more attractive lifestyle option. A recent University of Queensland study found the average Sydneysider needs to earn at least 25 to 35 per cent more than the average Brisbane resident to enjoy the same standard of living.

How to Purchase Property in Australia

There are several different ways for a foreign person to purchase property in Australia however different rules apply in each case.  As a general rule Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) approval will be required.  Qld Property Centre has extensive experience in working with property that will receive FIRB approval.  Below are the most common ways of purchasing property in Australia:

Existing residential properties are unable to be purchased by a foreign person unless a proposal for substantial redevelopment or improvement of the property is undertaken or if you hold a certain temporary visa for Australia.

Brand New residential properties which have never been sold by the builder and have never been lived in may be sold to foreign persons if certain conditions are met. FIRB approval is required.

Off-the-Plan Units/Flats may be sold to a foreign person where the developer has pre-approval to do so. Normally the developer gains written approval from the FIRB in advance.

Vacant land may be purchased by a foreign investor who undertakes to commence construction of a building on the land within twelve months of acquisition. House and Land packages are the common way to purchase.  FIRB approval is required but usually always granted in this instance.
